The Fund has a particular interest in training and education programmes. It has funded professional hunter and wildlife conservation courses at the South African Wildlife College (SAWC) for individuals from previously disadvantaged communities, and offers bursaries to individuals who are in the employ of PHASA members and wish to advance their career opportunities through further study. Over 1 300 students from previously disadvantaged communities have been trained at the college in Mpumalanga, in conservation management courses with funds raised by the Fund.

The Fund enjoys a close working relationship with the SAWC with many of their students being employed by our members. Each year we accept bursary requests from potential students which we then sponsor for the duration of their course. The course consists of 18 months full time study and a 6 months internship.
The fees for students attending the Higher Education courses depend on the number of students registered for the year. We anticipate that each year we will receive two or three bursary applications. It is important for us to raise enough funds to be able to continue offering these bursaries.
